The Callisto Protocol and Gigantic: Rampage Edition free on the Epic Games Store

If you’re looking to grab a freebie (or two), you can currently grab both The Callisto Protocol and Gigantic: Rampage Edition from the Epic Games Store.

Both games can be claimed until August 29th.

After this period, the store will change its free offer and offer interested customers the opportunity to claim the Fallout Classic Collection and Wild Card Football until September 5th (seriously, where is the year?!).

Callisto Protocol came from Striking Distance Studios, founded by former Dead Space player Glen Schofield. In Eurogamer’s Callisto Protocol review, Vikki admitted that “comparisons to Dead Space are inevitable,” but that she felt it made up for some of the lack of tension “with production quality and bloodthirsty fun.”

Despite this, The Callisto Protocol failed to meet sales targets, causing publisher Krafton’s share price to plummet. Striking Distance subsequently laid off 32 employees in August last year – a month later, Schofield left the studio “to pursue new opportunities.” Schofield recently said Krafton forced Striking Distance to release the game early.

Next week’s Fallout offering, meanwhile, is likely to generate some interest following the enthusiastic reception of Amazon’s TV adaptation. The success of the show – which attracted 65 million viewers in the first 16 days of release – has already prompted hordes of gamers to venture into one or more of the Fallout wastelands to find out what delights await them there.
