Leon Bridges is back with his new song “Peaceful Place”, the first single from his fourth album, Leone.
With soothing and gentle instrumentation led by Ian Fitchuk and Daniel Tashian, Bridges sings about achieving an inner fulfillment that cannot be shaken.
Although the song’s bright production is as radiant as a sunny summer, “Peaceful Place” also captures the feeling of change, like the beginning of fall.
“I’m in a peaceful place / I found something that no one can take away from me,” sings Bridges in the chorus.
“I hope you all feel this and can find your version of what I found. Once you do, no one can take it away from you,” Bridges wrote in an Instagram post.
“Peaceful Place” comes with a video shot at Bridges’ retreat on the outskirts of Mexico City. Directed by Joshua Moore, the video features footage of Bridges recording his album as well as clips of him wandering around the city.
“I have to take a moment to express all our love and gratitude to the city and the people we met there,” Bridges shared on Instagram. “They became part of this record and you can feel it in the music and see it in the video.”
Bridges’ new album, Leonwill be released on October 4th via Columbia Records. It is the successor to 2021 Gold diggers soundwhich included singles such as “Sweeter” featuring Terrace Martin, “Why Don’t You Touch Me” and “Motorbike”.
“Leon took a long time. I have already started writing parts of it, Gold digger sound”, says Bridges.
“They didn’t fit with what I wanted to achieve with this album and I tried to move on. But I couldn’t get rid of them because they are a part of me. And, if I’m honest, also because I think this is my best work to date.”
The Grammy-winning singer also points out that his new album is heavily influenced by his upbringing and his Texan roots.
“In many ways, I’ve been working on Leon since I was a kid. This album is about simpler days. It’s about the time I spent in my beloved Fort Worth and the experiences that made me the man I am today,” explains Bridges.
He concludes: “It’s soulful music in the truest sense of the word – it’s infused with my soul. I look forward to sharing these stories about home, about nostalgia, about my upbringing, about my heritage with all of you. I hope this music brings you back to your roots and your journey.”
Following the release of his Grammy-nominated album Gold digger sound In 2021, Bridges joined forces with music trio Khruangbin for a joint project, Texas Moon.
The five-track EP included the single “Chocolate Hills” and fan favorite “B-Side.” Texas Moon was the continuation of their first joint project, Texas sun.
