Celebrated chef reopens closed Pittsburgh restaurant

PITTSBURGH, PA — The name is the same, but that’s pretty much all there is at the Wild Rosemary Bistro in Upper St. Clair.

After the original owners closed the restaurant on Bower Hill Road last year, it was purchased by Raymond Mikesell, the former owner of Cafe Raymond in the Strip District.

The Wild Rosemary Bistro has focused on Mediterranean cuisine, but under Mikesell’s leadership that will change.

“I’m most excited to share my family’s recipes, which I found growing up in an Italian-Irish-American ‘Yinzer’ family from the North Side here in Pittsburgh,” Mikesell wrote on the restaurant’s website.

“I have traveled to France and Italy. This is my impression of culinary paradise and the source of my inspiration when creating our menus. I love creating joy through food that everyone can enjoy. My son and I wanted to create a place that reminds you of the food you ate as a child.”

Mikesell plans to open a supper club at the restaurant starting next month.

“When you come to Supper Club, expect bench seating because we want to squeeze you in there and have you sit right next to someone you don’t know yet and start a conversation,” the website says. “Then the food is served and that brings things full circle.”

You are still allowed to bring your own drinks to the Wild Rosemary Bistro.
