Bryan man sentenced to 40 years in prison after shooting teenager in College Station apartment in 2022

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – A Bryan man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison in connection with a 2022 shooting at a College Station apartment complex.

College Station Police responded to a shooting at the Pearl Apartments on October 29, 2022, where witnesses described the gunfire death of 15-year-old Anthony Ayers.

Trevor Thompson, now 28, was arrested four days later in connection with the teenager’s death.

According to previous reports and court documents, Thompson and Ayers were involved in some sort of argument over text messages and phone calls before it turned physical.

During the investigation, it was determined that both individuals were in possession of weapons on the night of the shooting”, says a press release from the Brazos County District Attorney’s Office.

After nearly two years of court appearances, Trevor Thompson pleaded guilty to murder in the Anthony Ayers case last Friday, August 16.

Thompson was sentenced to 40 years in a Texas prison.

Anthony Ayers was killed far too soon by a defendant who had no regard for human life. He will spend significant time in prison for his crime, and we will continue to protect this community.” Assistant District Attorneys Kara Comte and Abigail Goodman said in the press release.
