Protesters gather in Union Park after clashes with Vivek Ramaswamy on the final day of the DNC

On the final day of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, protesters gather for a rally and march in Union Park.

Tensions escalated shortly before 4:30 p.m. when protesters spotted former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and tried to force him out of the park.

The protest was originally scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. and is the second protest and march organized by the Coalition to March on the DNC.

Their first march and rally took place on Monday in Union Park.

Coalition representatives and local activists will take turns speaking before marching to the United Center, where Kamala Harris is likely to deliver her nomination acceptance speech later that evening.

The protesters demand the following:

  • USA ends aid to Israel
  • Give the community control over the police
  • Immigrant rights and legalization for all!
  • Defending LGBTQIA+ and reproductive rights
  • Money for jobs, schools, health, housing and the environment, not for war!
  • The right to organize unions and to strike
