Woman allegedly broke into house in Montgomery with knife

MONTGOMERY, Alabama (WSFA) – A woman is charged with first-degree burglary after allegedly breaking into a home late on the evening of Aug. 4, court records show.

Devona Shunta Montgomery, 37, was allegedly armed with a large knife when she forced her way into the home, damaged property inside and threatened the homeowner with the knife, records state. The incident was recorded by the homeowner’s doorbell camera.

The affidavit states that after Montgomery broke into the home, the victim ran into a bathroom and locked herself in. Montgomery allegedly forced her way into the victim’s bedroom, where she continued to make threats.

The records did not specify where the crime occurred. Montgomery was arrested Tuesday and is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center.
