2 suspects charged in northeast Missouri store burglary

Two northeast Missouri residents are now facing charges in connection with a supermarket break-in earlier this month.

Brandon Keith Huett, 39, of Kirksville, was charged this week with first-degree criminal damage to property, second-degree burglary and receiving stolen goods following a burglary on August 1, 2024, at The Cheese Post in Downing.

Huett’s alleged accomplice, 46-year-old Patricia Gordy of Wyaconda, is also charged with burglary and criminal damage, as well as second-degree tampering with a motor vehicle.

Gordy is still at large.

According to court documents, Gordy and Huett were in a pickup truck stolen in Kahoka when they forced their way into The Cheese Post in Downing after smashing the glass in the front door.

Schuyler County Sheriff Joe Wuebker said surveillance video from the store showed Huett using a chainsaw to try to cut open a slot machine, causing thousands of dollars in damage.

The perpetrators were unable to withdraw cash from the machine.

They are also accused of stealing alcohol, cigarettes and a shirt.

Four days after the Cheese Post break-in, Huett was arrested in Monroe City after he was caught driving the stolen pickup truck.

He is being held on $100,000 cash bail.

Gordy has not yet been found. If arrested, she will be held on $50,000 cash bail.
