Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) will close several Blue Line light rail stations over the next few weekends to perform essential maintenance. The closures will allow workers to apply an epoxy coating that will seal the concrete and prevent water from seeping into the concrete platforms. The work was originally scheduled for last month but had to be postponed due to weather.

Closures will take place every Friday from 8pm until the start of service the following Monday, unless otherwise stated. On Thursdays before the closure, passengers will only be able to board and alight in the first carriage of two-car trains.

The schedule for station closures is:

• Boggs Station: Closed from 8:00 p.m. on August 23 until service begins on August 26. Passengers should use Bon Air or South Hills Junction instead.
• Denise Station: Closed from 8:00 p.m. September 6 until service begins on September 9. Passengers should use Bon Air or South Bank instead.
• Memorial Hall Station: Closed from 8pm September 13 until service begins on September 16. Passengers should use Willow or Killarney instead.
• Overbrook Junction: The entrance platform will be closed from 7 a.m. September 26 until service begins on September 30. A temporary low platform will be constructed for passengers to board and disembark. Passengers who need to use the ramp should board Blue Line or Silver Line trains at nearby Willow Station instead. Those who absolutely must use the Red Line should board at Castle Shannon Station or Washington Junction.

Due to Labor Day, PRT work crews will stop maintenance work over the weekend of August 31 through September 2. Similar maintenance work will be performed on the station in October and possibly November. PRT notes that the work will be outdoors and therefore highly dependent on the weather.
