Benny Garcia wants his restaurant, Benny’s Place, to be a place where family and friends can come together for a good meal.

Friday morning, the Fox News Channel morning show “Fox & Friends” will broadcast live from Benny’s Place, 1158 Douglas Road in Oswego. Lawrence Jones, one of the hosts of Fox & Friends, will be at the restaurant from 5 to 8 a.m. as part of the show’s “Breakfast with Friends” segment.

Jones will speak to guests about a variety of topics, including the upcoming presidential election. Those who come will receive free coffee and breakfast.

Garcia said he did not know how his restaurant was chosen for the show. Fox News could not be reached for comment.

“They wanted a family-run restaurant,” he said. “Somehow they found us and we had great reviews.”

Benny’s Place has served as a gathering place since it opened nearly 12 years ago. For example, Assemblywoman Stephanie Kifowit (D-Oswego) has hosted “Coffee with Kifowit” community gatherings at the restaurant in the past.

The restaurant is family owned.

“We come from a family of restaurateurs,” Garcia said. “My father was in it and I have a lot of relatives who were in the restaurant business.”

Garcia said they treat their customers like they are family.

“They come in and have a good time,” he said.
