Park Hill graduate plays first game with the Chiefs

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (KCTV) – A Park Hill High School graduate took the field in a Chiefs uniform for the first time Thursday night in Arrowhead.

The Chiefs signed former K-State long snapper Randen Plattner as a temporary replacement for James Winchester, who suffered an AC joint strain during Kansas City’s second preseason game in August.

Plattner took over Winchester’s duties during the Chiefs’ final preseason game against Chicago. Winchester injured his shoulder in the Week 2 preseason game against the Lions, but is expected to be healthy in time for Week 1.

Reports: Chiefs sign new contract with Creed Humphrey, making him the highest-paid center in NFL history

Plattner originally signed as an undrafted free agent with the Baltimore Ravens. The team released him on August 11.

The Parkville, Missouri native played 62 games in Manhattan – the second most in K-State school history.

Plattner was a four-year member of the Big 12 All-Academic Team and finished his senior season as a semifinalist for the Patrick Mannelly Long Snapper of the Year award.

The Chiefs released injured offensive lineman McKade Mettauer to make room for Plattner on the roster.
