Baldwin’s Book Barn has more than 300,000 titles, with the oldest book dating back to the 17th century.

The Philadelphia region has a strong independent bookstore scene, and a local store is a must for any book lover, near or far, writes Visit Philadelphia.

Baldwin’s Book Barn in West Chester was founded in Delaware in 1934. Since World War II, it has offered used, rare and high-quality books, as well as manuscripts, maps, paintings, prints and more at its current location in West Chester.

The bookshop is housed in a 200 year old stone barn, housing over 300,000 books that occupy every nook and cranny of this beautiful setting. There are also many charming reading nooks.

Architectural Digest named Baldwin’s Book Barn one of the world’s favorite independent bookstores in 2021.
