One restaurant closes while another expands; Uisce Irish Summer Bash on tap

Here’s your weekly summary of the latest retail, business and restaurant activity in Whatcom County and surrounding areas:

Renovation and extension of the Flatstick Pub

Flatstick Pub, an indoor mini golf, pizza and beer restaurant, is reopening after a remodel that added new games and an over-21 bar area.

The restaurant was closed from August 20th to 23rd for renovations and will reopen on Saturday, August 24th. The restaurant will then have an area for people aged 21 and over with two dart boards.

A nine-hole duffleboard court will also be added.

“Duffleboard is played on tables similar to mini golf and was developed by Flatstick Pub,” said Brian Largent, regional manager of Flatstick Pub.

The restaurant is also expanding its hours and will be open Sundays from noon to 9 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays from noon to 10 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from noon to midnight at 902 N. State St.

Chicago Joe’s closes

Chicago Joe’s, a Chicago-style hot dog restaurant, has closed its doors, according to a social media post from the restaurant.

Lynden Restaurant will open in June 2023 at 8082 Guide Meridian, Suite 103.

The restaurant’s Facebook pages have been inaccessible since August 22nd.

Summer of St. Patrick’s Event

Bellingham’s Irish pub Uisce reopened in new premises in June and is hosting an Irish garden party to celebrate the end of summer.

The Summer of St. Patrick Garden Party will be held on Saturday, August 24th from 2-10 p.m. at 1409 Cornwall Ave.

The event includes live Irish music, a Guinness beer truck and fish and chips from the Galley2Go food truck.

There is an admission fee of $3 for the event.
