With the rise of culinary tourism, discovering, enjoying and sharing culinary offerings are now central aspects of the travel experience. Data from Trip.com shows that the number of users searching for food-related keywords worldwide has increased by over 30% year-on-year, with increasing interest in terms such as “fine dining,” “local specialties,” and food-destination combinations such as “Tokyo Streetfood” and “Singapore Cuisine.” In addition, a user survey found that 44% of users consider culinary experiences when choosing a travel destination.

Trip.Gourmet lists – Discover the best restaurants in the world

Launched on Trip.com in 2016, Trip.Gourmet is a comprehensive restaurant guide that offers global restaurant reviews, travel-related food content and reservation capabilities. Several exciting new features were unveiled at the event:

New global selection and ranking system: It now includes over 10,000 restaurants in over 300 cities and regions. The restaurants have been divided into four new themes that combine travel and food: Fine dining (Black DiamondDiamond and Platinum), Local Restaurants, Small Snacks, And Restaurants for views and experiences.

These are selected based on the quality and popularity of the restaurant, user ratings, relevance to the topic and popularity of the destinations. Compared to other rankings that focus on food quality, more emphasis is also placed on the travel characteristics of the restaurants.

Recognition of culinary excellence in upscale gastronomy and luxury hotels

Several upscale restaurants from the Asia-Pacific region were honored at the awards ceremony, including Odette, Waku Ghin of Tetsuya Wakuda and CUT by Wolfgang Puck in Singapore; Kubu in Mandapa in Bali; Potong and Le Du In Bangkok; SÉZANNE and RyuGin in Tokyoand La Yeon and Bicena in Seoul.

At the prestigious Black Diamond listalmost 49.12% of the top restaurants came from France, ChinaAnd Japanwhich reflects their dominance in the upscale dining scene. Europe were strongly represented with contributions such as Core by Clare Smith – Translation (Great Britain), L’Oiseau Blanc (France) and Enjoy (Spain).

Eating at the hotel 41% of Trip.Gourmet rankings are dedicated to luxury hotel restaurants, a growing preference among wealthier travelers. Love for local delicacies – Food Channel & “Taste the Season”

To further enrich the travel experience, Trip.Gourmet a new Food Guide Channel on two platforms (Trip.com and Ctrip). This feature discovers local culinary gems and recommends special food lists and must-try dishes to travelers. The channel aims to inspire culinary exploration by showcasing the unique flavors of local delicacies in different travel destinations. This complements Trip.com’s travel guide feature, which covers not only food, but also entertainment, transportation, accommodation and shopping, as well as useful tools such as tourist maps and routes.

In collaboration with Shangri-La, a new “Try the season” was launched, which combines hotel stays, specialty items and meal vouchers into packages.
