Sabrina Carpenter talks about Broadway and writes adult lyrics for “Chicken Shop Date”

She works late because she is a singer – and if all goes well, a Broadway actress too. In a new episode of Chicken Shop Date Posted on Friday (August 23), Sabrina Carpenter addressed the question of whether she would ever return to the stage and talked all things espresso, Valentine’s Day, and NSFW song lyrics.

After speaking to the “Feather” singer about the texting habits of Brits and the financial benefits of dating, host Amelia Dimoldenberg asked her guest a question that many fans have been wondering since Carpenter’s appearance as Cady Heron in the Girls Club – Be careful, they bite! The stage production was interrupted in 2020 by the COVID-19 pandemic: “Would you perform on Broadway again if the right opportunity arose?”

“I would,” Carpenter replied, shrugging and smiling.

Four years earlier, Carpenter starred opposite Reneé Rapp as Regina George in the Broadway adaptation of the 2004 film, but she only made a few appearances before the theater closed due to the global pandemic. She was never able to reprise her role in the production, as it was not revived at the August Wilson Theatre, nor did she appear in the 2024 film version of the musical, which starred Rapp.

During the interview with Dimoldenberg, Carpenter also opened up about what she did on Valentine’s Day this year — “I got chocolate and ate it… that was my day” — though she didn’t specify whether she spent the holiday with boyfriend Barry Keoghan. She did, however, explain that she doesn’t fall in love as easily as she did when she was younger. “Now I fall in love a little more — I don’t want this to sound sad, but maybe I just fall in love with a little more knowledge,” she said.

At the end of the video, Carpenter helped Dimoldenberg write an X-rated rhyme to the line “Went to London ’cause I had a hot date,” in the style of her famous “Nonsense” outros. “I would have done something really crazy,” she said, “but I don’t think I can say that on camera.”

She covered her mouth and Work on it The actress then whispered her idea: “Later I’ll have my pussy licked.”

The cheeky interview is released on the same day as Carpenter’s sixth studio album, Short and sweetwhich includes the hit single “Espresso” and the Billboard Hot 100 topper “Please Please Please.” The star also unveiled a gory music video with Jenna Ortega in which they recreate the 1992 film Death suits her well and they grow closer over the murder of a man for whom they previously fought to the death.

Speaking of “Espresso”, Carpenter spoke on Chicken Shop Date whether she actually enjoys sipping the concentrated caffeinated beverage in real life. “Yeah, I just like drinking it,” she told Dimoldenberg. “It’s not that I like them because of how they taste – I like them because they make me feel a certain way.”
