San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport expects busy Labor Day weekend

OAK recommends arriving early and reserving a parking space on site in advance.

Oakland, California – August 23, 2024: San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport (OAK) is preparing for a busy Labor Day weekend. OAK expects over 200,000 travelers at the airport between Thursday, August 29 and Tuesday, September 3. Based on scheduled airline seating, the busiest travel days of the weekend are expected to be Friday, August 30 and Monday, September 2.

“It’s been a busy summer travel season at OAK,” said Craig Simon, Port of Oakland aviation director. “We wish OAK travelers a happy and safe Labor Day and thank them for choosing to fly East Bay Way over the holiday weekend.”

The airport recommends passengers arrive early – at least two hours before departure for domestic flights and at least three hours before departure for international flights. For those with time to spare, there are new concessions in Terminal 1 with the recent launch of Cancún Sabor Mexicano and A16 Pizza. To view all the shops and restaurants at OAK, visit the concessions page HERE.

To secure a parking spot and ensure a smooth trip, OAK recommends making a parking reservation. For a 3-day weekend trip (Friday through Monday), the total cost of a reservation is just $54 for an economy parking reservation, including all taxes and fees. For longer trips, customers save even more with Park OAK’s weekday discount, which applies to all days of the reservation that begin between Monday and Thursday. Receive a total discount of $6 per day on daily parking Monday through Thursday. Reserve now at book.iflyoak.com.
