MIAMI– A Las Vegas couple was taken off a plane and arrested at Miami International Airport after other passengers complained about the man’s bleeding forehead following a hair transplant, the couple said.

The 27-year-old man and the 32-year-old woman had already boarded an American Airlines flight to Las Vegas on Tuesday when flight crew noticed the man’s bleeding head, according to a Miami-Dade police report.

A flight attendant told the man he needed to wipe off the blood and change his bandages, but he said he did not have a clean bandage, officials said. Flight crew then told the man he had to leave the plane out of concern for his health and possible contamination from bodily fluids.

The man and woman refused to leave the plane, officials said. Police were called to the plane, and the couple again refused to leave. Police said officers escorted the couple off the plane and charged them with trespassing and resisting arrest.

The woman livestreamed the encounter on TikTok and the couple spoke to NBC 6 South Florida after being released from jail Tuesday night. They said they traveled to Miami to undergo multiple cosmetic surgeries and showed reporters a note from their doctor granting them permission to travel.

The couple’s lawyer, Michael Inglesia, said the couple faced discrimination because of their appearance after undergoing a medical procedure despite a doctor’s approval.

American Airlines said in a statement that two passengers on Tuesday’s flight had behaved in a disruptive and uncoordinated manner and thanked the airline for its professionalism.
