Corinna, ME β€” Today, U.S. Senator Susan Collins participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the City of Corinna’s new fire station. Senator Collins secured $1,725,000 in congressionally mandated spending for this project through the FY 2022 Agriculture and Rural Development appropriations to support construction of the new fire station that will serve the cities of Corinna and Exeter. She toured the former station in 2021, which was in need of repair and did not provide enough space to effectively support the Corinna Fire Department.

β€œThe new Corinna Fire Station will help ensure that the brave firefighters are able to effectively serve several rural communities in Penobscot County,” said Senator Collins“I was very pleased to be able to secure federal funding through the budget process to build this new facility that will help keep more Maine residents safe.”

Senator Collins has long been an advocate for Maine’s firefighters and first responders. This year alone, in the fiscal year 2024 budget process, she secured nearly $31 million for 24 projects across the state that support local police, fire and rescue stations, and emergency services.
