Cafes, Mogas and more added to Airport Courtesy Cars website — General Aviation News

Airport Courtesy Cars, a website listing more than 2,000 free rental cars available to general aviation pilots at airports across the country, has been updated.

According to founder Glenn Brasch, the site now also lists airport cafes, Mogas locations and more, as well as hundreds of photos from users.

The idea for the service was born in 2014 when Glenn and his son flew to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh in their newly completed RV-9A.

“Before I left, I checked for parking spaces on my route from Arizona just to be on the safe side,” he recalls. “I didn’t find any.”

When he returned home from Oshkosh, he contacted various forums and groups to compile a list of free rental cars for general aviation pilots.

“I quickly had more than 700 entries,” he said.

Initially the information was available via an app, but Glenn later provided a fully web-based service to make it easier for all pilots to access the information.

Several updates to the website followed, including the most recent one that displays the information in a blog format, he explained.

Glenn added that he has “spent a lot of time” updating older entries with information from users.

In addition to all the other information available on the site, Glenn recommends checking out the pilots’ commentaries, “which can be quite entertaining,” he says.

He also pointed out that the site’s continued success depends on donations from users.
