LAS VEGAS (KTNV — As a mom, I know firsthand how expensive the back-to-school season is, from school supplies to backpacks to clothing. But what if I told you there’s a special thrift store in the Valley owned by a local school and run by local moms. The store features quality clothing, shoes, furniture and household items at rock-bottom prices.

“What I’m wearing today is this jacket, these jeans from the store and of course my Faith Lutheran T-shirt,” said Kim Groberg.

Groberg, a proud Faith mom, works at Faith Lutheran thrift store, and she showed me some back-to-school deals and bargains you can snag now.

“When my daughter started working at Faith and I found out there was a thrift store there, I had to be there,” she said.

Grobert makes a significant contribution with her experience in luxury retail.

“My love for re-merchandising and creating these little boutique environments that change every two weeks depending on what product we have in the store and what we want to showcase,” she explained. “Right now we’re doing this back-to-school boutique.”

The current back to school deals are incredible, from backpacks to school uniforms, clothing, shoes and many brand new items.

“We even have books and office supplies,” said Grobert.

Assistant Store Manager Julie Pijnappels has two children who graduated from Faith Lutheran High School.

She raves about finding designer clothes here at bargain prices.

“Every day is the best day to be here because we have a sale every day,” she said.

Pijnappels said although this thrift store has been in the valley for decades, this newest location on Rainbow Boulevard is busier than ever.

“So we have people who have been shopping with us for 30 years,” she said. “This is Faith Lutheran’s first charity that we started here, and all the money we make here goes to the school and various programs there, like our Mark 10:14 program, and other programs are funded by the thrift store.”

Pijnappels loves working here with other Faith families and has become a celebrity at the thrift store through her live social media posts promoting daily specials.

“I’m amazed every day when I’m here and someone comes in and says, ‘Oh Julie, I just saw you live and I had to come in because of the sale you were doing today.’ I hear that all the time, and I actually had a girl last week. She said, ‘I call you Celebrity Julie.’ And I asked why? And she said because of the live broadcasts and Instagram. ‘I love it and it’s the first thing I look at in the morning to see what the sale is to come in here and shop.'”

And it’s these great deals in a store that’s not your average thrift store.

“We are excited about the items we get new with tags in bags. I mean, the brands we get, the items we get every day, we think: I can’t believe this was donated, but we can offer it to the public at an incredible discount price,” said Pi
