Linkin Park arouse curiosity with mysterious countdown

Linkin Park have hinted at some activity by releasing a mysterious countdown on their social media accounts.

The band took to their official Twitter account and shared a video counting down to 100 hours and 59 minutes. The caption of the post is a link to Linkin Park’s official website. When fans click on the link, they are taken to a webpage with a live countdown, as well as an email subscription box and a link to a My Community phone chat.

Fans took to the comments section to share their reaction to the mysterious video. “New album on the way??” wrote one user, while another wrote, “Minutes until midnight. Wait, that’s not minutes. What’s going on?” See more fan reactions below:

Earlier this year, it was reported that the makers of “Numb” are planning a tour for 2025 and may be looking for a singer to replace late frontman Chester Bennington.

The band has been on hiatus since Bennington’s death in 2017, who took his own life at the age of 41.

According to reports from Billboardthe band’s booking agency, WME, is now accepting offers for concerts and festivals with Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson and Dave Farrell. Although it is unclear who will replace Bennington, a source has apparently said Billboard that the band is looking for a singer for their reunion.

In conversation with NME Last year, Shinoda spoke about possible plans for some Linkin Park reissues. “There’s nothing planned right now. I always tell people, if there’s any news, I’ll tell you. We’ve been doing this for a while and I think our expectations for a proper reissue are pretty high,” he told us.

He continued: “I don’t like putting out greatest hits stuff or remasters of stuff we’ve done. So if we were to do a reissue of one of our Linkin Park albums, we want it to be a big deal. If we can’t get that quality right, then we’re not doing it. If it’s not great, then I don’t think we should do it.”

Since that interview, Linkin Park has released the previously unreleased “Friendly Fire,” featuring Bennington on vocals, which was originally recorded for the band’s 2017 sessions for “One More Light.” In April, they also released “Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023),” a 20-song overview of the band’s best-selling tracks of the past two decades.
