Dongyu E-Sports is home to China’s largest gaming cafe with Core i9-14900K. Fast Technology reports that instability issues with 2023’s Raptor Lake have severely affected the luxury gaming cafe.
The cafe’s Core i9-14900K instability began in early December 2023, causing blue screens. The BSODs were so disruptive that they had a noticeable impact on the cafe’s business. When systems failed, unhappy customers were compensated with extra drinks and internet time.
Dongyu immediately contacted Intel’s after-sales support team, engineering department and product department to resolve the issue. Partner engineers were also called in to provide joint on-site support to resolve the instability issues encountered with crashing Core i9-14900K gaming rigs.
During troubleshooting, it was found that several issues contributed to the instability, including power supply issues, heat dissipation, and CPU voltage issues. Intel engineers reportedly found the root cause of the instability and significantly reduced Cafe’s instability by tweaking “relevant settings.”
Later, in 2024, when Intel presented its default policy, the problem was reportedly “further resolved.” Cafe owner Xie Liuqiu thanked Intel for its help and said he was committed to continuing to equip his internet cafe chain with Intel’s latest Core i9 processors.
“Intel thoroughly investigates product issues, provides support for technical issues, and is reliable in terms of warranty and after-sales service. This responsibility gives me the confidence to earn money steadily and without worry, and also encourages me to continue to equip all new stores with the latest Core i9 processors,” Xie told Fast technology.
China’s largest Core i9-14900K internet cafe is part of a chain of internet cafes owned by Dongyu E-Sports in Yueyang, Hunan. The company has set up six gaming cafes in different parts of the city with a total of 689 PCs, where 68% of the gaming rigs use an Intel Core i9 CPU. The flagship store has the most Core i9-14900K CPUs, consisting of 171 machines. Each rig has an RTX 4090D GPU and a gaming monitor with a 540Hz refresh rate. Mainstream rigs are reportedly equipped with RTX 4070 Super GPUs.
The rigs are as high-end as they come. Each Core i9-14900K is manually overclocked to 5.9GHz and the system RAM is overclocked to a blazing fast 8,533MHz. The RTX 4090Ds are also overclocked, with speeds of 3.1GHz for the GPU core and 13GHz for the memory, respectively. To keep the CPUs cool, a 360mm AIO liquid cooler is used.
The gaming cafe is as luxurious as it gets. Each gaming system is equipped with a luxurious gaming chair with high-end peripherals that reclines almost completely flat. The cafe offers a wide range of services for hardcore customers, including a QR code for ordering food, toothbrushes, showers, washrooms, and a self-service supermarket.
