Live Oak Plantation Ticker Tape Home her first success in a grading race on August 24, winning the CA$153,240 Seaway Stakes (G3) at honeysuckle.

It was the first victory for Ticker Tape Home, a daughter of Medal d’Oro from the Warfront mare Journey home — who won the restricted Fury Stakes at Woodbine last year.

Trained by Mark Casse, the four-year-old dark bay or brown mare bred by Sam-Son Farm won her last start at the Seaway by 1 1/4 lengths in a second-class optional allowance race over six furlongs on the E.P. Taylor turf on July 21.

Owen’s Travel Guide And Timeline duelled shortly after the gates opened at the Seaway, a seven-furlong main race track for fillies and foals. Ticker Tape Home was a few lengths behind the pacemakers in fourth place after a first quarter in :22.62.

After a half time of :45.98 the status quo was, while the favorite Girl in a hurry began to make some progress as the field turned toward the finish line.

Owen’s Tour Guide and Time Passage came under immense pressure from a number of rivals just after the turn, including Gal in a Rush, who struck at full speed on the outside. Ticker Tape Home was able to make up ground on the inside but still had some work to do to catch the new leader.

With less than 70 yards to run, Ticker Tape caught Home Gal in a Rush and took a narrow victory with a time of 1:23.10. Queen Macha was third and Metaphysical finished fourth. Ticker Tape Home paid $12.40 for the win.

“In her two starts (earlier this year at Gulfstream) over the line she was a sprint, and at five-eighths she’s not really fast,” said winning rider Patrick Husbands, who finished fourth with Ticker Tape Home at Seaway last year. “But at six, six-and-a-half and seven – she’s deadly.”

It was the fourth win in 15 starts for Ticker Tape Home, who was purchased for $625,000 at the 2021 edition of Fasig-Tipton’s The Saratoga Sale.
