Day One trailer gives first glimpse of the prequel film

The first trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One has been released.

The prequel film is intended to take fans back to the time of the original alien invasion, before the world fell into the post-apocalyptic state of “A Quiet Place” (2018) and its sequel (2020).

The new film introduces the characters Sam (Lupita Nyong’o) and Eric (Joseph Quinn), who are thrown together during the invasion of New York City.

In the trailer, we see flashforwards to the first two films before returning to New York as Sam walks around the city with her cat. It’s not long, however, before the aliens start shooting out of the sky as clips of the horrific invasion are shown.

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Nyong’o discussed the plot, referencing the family dynamics of the original film: “When you have a family, there’s a natural expectation that people want to stick together.

“There’s nothing like that in this film. We have these different individuals who come into each other’s lives at a crucial time for the world.

“How do they manage to survive together? What we see is a really interesting – and even surprising – chemistry between the characters who meet over time.”

Quinn added: “The script is obviously set in the world we know, but it is first and foremost a film about these two characters who are lost and trying to come to terms with their fate.

“There are some wonderful other characters in the film that Sam meets, but the majority of it is about Eric and Sam and their mutual acceptance of this bleaker, quieter new reality.”

In “A Quiet Place: Day One,” Michael Sarnoski (Pig) takes over from John Krasinski as director, Alex Wolff (Hereditary) will also star, and the original star of “A Quiet Place Part II,” Djimon Hounsou, returns.

A Quiet Place: Day One will be will be released in US and UK cinemas on June 28th.
