Flying Cow Gelato and Annedore’s Fine Chocolates opened a new location in downtown Overland Park on Wednesday, the second such joint store in Johnson County.

The store opened at 7321 W. 80th St. next to the Made in KC gift shop.

The first Flying Cow and Annedore combo store is located in Westwood Hills at 5000 State Line Road. Flying Cow’s Shawnee location at 11210 Johnson Drive is just down the street from Annedore’s other location at 1107 Johnson Drive.

Owner Sheri Weedman was behind the Switch Wednesday morning, portioning ice cream for her first customers.

“It’s a great area,” Weedman said. Her store is just around the corner from the popular Overland Park Farmers’ Market, which is open through the end of September.

The side door of the shop leads to the Strang Hall terrace with several outdoor tables and chairs.

Across the street, Skin: The Clean Beauty Store hopes to start selling its lotions, soaps and other products next month.

Annedore’s opened more than 30 years ago. Weedman bought the business in 2016 and decided to open an ice cream shop in Westwood Hills in 2022 to boost business in the summer.

Today, Flying Cow offers flavors such as coffee, salted caramel, mint chips, pistachio and birthday cake.

Annedore’s sells a variety of chocolates, including melt-aways, chocolate-covered almonds, and chocolate espresso beans.

For now, the Overland Park store will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., but hours may change, Weedman said.
