TUSCARAWAS COUNTY – From barns to farmhouses and tiny houses to tents, no matter how you want to stay, there’s an Airbnb for you.
The Times reporter combed through 242 listings and imagined where you might rest your head while enjoying everything from the town of Uhrichsville’s fabled water park to the three-day Ohio Swiss Festival in September in Sugarcreek, which is a natural end to the festival season.
While there is no particular trend among the offerings we examined, you’ll likely find a gem somewhere in the valley that suits your or your guests’ needs.

Most expensive
For $550 per night, The Lodge at Paradise Lake offers a sense of tranquility in an isolated gated community. The offering invites families to a peaceful lakefront cabin that features three levels of living and plenty of opportunities to connect with loved ones and nature. This cabin sleeps up to 14 people.
A two-night stay is required, so you’ll pay $1,100 before taxes. If you decide to split the money among 14 friends and family members, that’s a pretty good deal. Think a getaway for your team, a reunion, or even a bachelor/bachelorette party.
Middle class
For $250 per night, you can book The Acacia, a 4-bedroom home straight out of Architectural Digest. Located in Sugarcreek Township, picturesquely nestled in the rolling hills of scenic Amish Country, it’s a true sight if you’re looking for modernity and simplicity. Described as a luxurious A-frame retreat with a spacious modern wood frame and high ceilings, the home is designed with your comfort in mind. Your getaway to The Acacia promises a harmonious blend of modern luxury and timeless tranquility.
It is also publicly listed under the company name WoodRidge Stays, with The Acacia being just a stone’s throw away from its equally unique sibling hotel called The Adler.
According to the listing, the Acacia costs $411 per night before taxes.
It is located in Sugarcreek, a village known as the “Little Switzerland of Ohio” that features a working railroad museum with 18 steam locomotives, a museum dedicated exclusively to Coleman camping products, and the world’s largest cuckoo clock.

If you like golf, just 30 minutes west is one of the area’s more challenging courses, Black Diamond Golf Course, for those who need to think about bogey golf. Or just five minutes away is an arguably tamer course often played by students from the local high school, Black Gold Golf Club.
Cheapest
In Uhrichsville, you can stay in a tent, which is considered a basic campsite. The price is $75 before taxes and fees and is quite modest. You can get away from it all by sleeping under the stars. One of these tents sleeps four guests and has a bedroom with two beds and a bath. There is also a fire pit and access to the lake.
No matter which direction you go, if you make a stop on your trip, you will always reach a major city, be it New Philadelphia, Coshocton, Cambridge or Wheeling.
