Lottery winning ticket sold at gas station in SC. Check your numbers

Someone who bought a lottery ticket at a gas station in the Palmetto State won the top prize of $211,000, South Carolina Education Lottery officials said in a news release.

The person who purchased a Palmetto Cash 5 lottery ticket before Thursday’s drawing in Aiken County needs to check their numbers because they have won the game’s six-figure top prize, the news release said.

The search for the winner is now underway.

The Palmetto Cash 5 winning ticket was sold at Ye Olde Grocery at 4444 Jefferson Davis Highway, officials said. The gas station/convenience store is in the Beech Island area.

The winning numbers for Thursday’s draw were 1, 2, 7, 25, 29.

The Palmetto Cash 5 ticket matched all five numbers drawn, winning the game’s top prize, officials said.

According to lottery authorities, the winner has 180 days to claim his prize.

The winner is afforded a certain degree of privacy because South Carolina is one of eleven states – along with Arizona, Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, New Jersey, North Dakota, Ohio, Texas and Virginia – where lottery winners can remain anonymous.

“Sign the back of your ticket and place it in a safe place until you are ready to collect your prize,” lottery officials said.

The odds of winning Palmetto Cash 5, worth $211,000, are 1:850,668, according to the press release.

The Ye Olde Grocery receives a commission on the sale of the winning ticket when it is presented to lottery officials.

The jackpot had been won 10 times before Thursday’s win, officials said. It has been won twice since then, and the top prize in Sunday’s drawing will be $120,000, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.

It costs $2 to purchase a Palmetto Cash 5 ticket and drawings are held daily at 6:59 p.m., officials said.
