Fast-growing Greek restaurant chain plans to open 270 new locations

If the thought of pita wraps, freshly made hummus, and honey-glazed baklava makes your mouth water, then get ready for some exciting news. A fast-growing restaurant chain serving all of these delicious dishes could soon be coming to your area of ​​the country, as it prepares to open hundreds of new locations across the United States.

The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill, a fast-casual concept that focuses on fresh, authentic ingredients, just announced several key growth milestones and goals for the future. Seven new locations opened in the first half of 2024, including in San Diego, Vestavia Hills (Alabama), Danville (California), Roswell (Georgia), Pleasant Grove (Utah), and Maitland and Tampa (Florida). In addition, the company recently expanded into Canada for the first time with the opening of a new restaurant in Toronto.

The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill will accelerate its growth throughout the remainder of 2024, with plans to open an additional 25 restaurants by the end of the year. These openings include the brand’s first-ever locations in several states, including New Mexico, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Long-term, the chain plans to expand its footprint by hundreds of additional new locations.

According to the announcement by QSR MagazineThe Great Greek currently has a whopping 270 new locations in the development pipeline. Although the exact timeline for all of the openings was not provided, the chain expects to surpass 100 restaurants in 2025. It currently operates 54 locations in 17 states.

“Our growth in the first half of 2024 is a testament to the strength of our brand and development strategy and positions us for even greater momentum in this second half of the year,” said Bob Andersen, president of The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill, in a statement. “Our continued success is a direct reflection of our dedicated and passionate franchisees who take our brand to new heights every day. We are excited about the trajectory we are on and look forward to breaking more records throughout the rest of this year and into 2025.”

The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill is not the only Greek or Mediterranean chain expanding at a rapid pace. Fast-casual chain Nick the Greek recently signed three development deals that 13 new restaurants will open in Salt Lake City, Utah, Nashville, Tennessee and San Diego, California.
