Intermodal bus station project: Intermodal bus station project makes progress after a lull in Tirupati | India News

TIRUPATI: After more than two years of delay, the ambitious Intermodal bus station project In Tirupati is finally ready to become a reality.
In a significant development, the logistics management of national roads (NHLML) Managing Director Prakash Gaur and project manager Pooja Mishra visited Tirupati on Sunday. Accompanied by MP from Tirupati Dr. M. Gurumoorthy, they conducted a review meeting at the existing bus stand and inspected the premises.
After a recent meeting between the MP of Tirupati and Trade Union Minister for Road traffic and highways. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari assured that the tendering process for the Tirupati Intermodal Bus Station project would be completed within a month.
The project aims at the growing Transport needswas redesigned from the original 15 floors to 11. This adjustment was made in response to objections from the Tirupati Municipal Corporation, which had previously delayed the foundation stone laying of the project.
The proposed intermodal station will be built on a centrally located 13-acre site and is expected to reduce road congestion by integrating various modes of transport. The facility will have a passenger terminal, bus stand, parking facilities for cars and two-wheelers, a helipad and a cable car. Other amenities will include retail zones, a food court, a hotel, a passenger lounge, trailer counters, medical facilities and an electric vehicle charging station.
Dr. Gurumurthy stressed that the new bus stand will be designed keeping in mind the future needs of passengers and will incorporate modern and spiritual elements. He also mentioned that a footbridge and a skywalk would connect the bus stand to the railway station, thus improving intermodal connectivity.
The necessity of the project is underlined by the current RTC Central Bus StationOvercrowding as the bus service serves an average of 170,000 passengers and 4,000 buses daily. With the ever increasing number of pilgrims in Tirupati, the existing infrastructure is no longer able to meet the increasing demand.
