Sushi bar opens, longtime bar closes: South Jersey business news in brief

SOUTH JERSEY – A sushi bar, Indian cuisine and some professional athletes from Philadelphia are on their way to South Jersey as a local community says goodbye to a longtime restaurant.

Here is some of the economic news from the past week:

SweetWater Bar And Grill closes permanently

Earlier this month, SweetWater Bar and Grill in Cinnaminson announced it would close permanently on Saturday, August 24. George Kyrtatas, an acclaimed chef known for his Greek cuisine, opened the restaurant in 2012 in the same building as his family’s previous restaurant, Hathaway’s. The closing of SweetWater will end the Kyrtatas family’s four-decade run at the location. Read more on Patch.

New sushi restaurant among 9 new stores in Cherry Hill Mall

An Asian fusion restaurant is one of several restaurants set to open at Cherry Hill Mall. Kooma Asian Fusion and Sushi Bar is set to open this fall, according to PREIT, the mall’s parent company. The restaurants will feature hand-selected ingredients and a wide variety of sushi. Kooma’s menu also includes stone-pot bibimbaps, stir-fries and other delicacies. Read more on Patch.

New Indian restaurant on the way to Cherry Hill

Also new in Cherry Hill: a new option for Indian cuisine. Palnadu Indian Cuisine offers authentic Andhra and Hyderabad cuisine, serving traditional dishes from several regions of India. Read more on Patch.

Eagles and Phillies visit mall to meet fans

Eagles captain Brandon Graham and Phillies slugger Nick Castellanos are among the Philadelphia professional athletes coming to Deptford Mall. Fans can get autographs and photos with the local heroes at two events in the coming weeks. Read more on Patch.

4 cannabis companies are coming to Cinnaminson

Several marijuana companies have been given the green light to set up shop in Cinnaminson, including a manufacturer that will open a small dispensary. The companies are primarily manufacturers, but one will use part of its facility for “very limited retail,” which is expected to be up and running by next summer, officials told Patch.
