Travel chaos on the holiday: trains at Heathrow Airport at Paddington station cancelled, passengers must expect delays – The US Sun

Trains between Heathrow Airport and London Paddington were cancelled this evening, causing travel chaos.

According to National Rail, an “intruder” entered the tracks and caused “significant disruption” throughout the evening.

Damage to the overhead line system between London Paddington and Reading was also reported.

It is unclear whether the two things are directly related.

Services, including the Elizabeth Line, are expected to be disrupted until at least 8.45pm.

A National Rail spokesman said: “Due to damage to the overhead line system between London Paddington and Reading, all routes are blocked.”

“As a result, there may be train cancellations or significant delays of up to 60 minutes between London Paddington and Heathrow Airport/Reading.”

“Significant disruption is expected until 8:45 p.m. London Paddington station is currently open for disembarkation only.

“A previous incident of trespassing at Paddington station in London caused further disruption to public services, but this has now been resolved.”

A statement from TfL said: “There have been significant delays between Abbey Wood and Reading/Heathrow Airport due to trespassers on the tracks.”

“Tickets are accepted on the London Underground.”

The GWR website states: “Due to damage to the overhead lines between Reading and London Paddington, all routes are closed.”

“Train services to and from these stations may be delayed. Disruptions are expected until 8.30pm.”
