A major international airport in Paris was evacuated by police after a bomb scare.

There was chaos this evening at Paris’ Orly airport, one of the two main airports in the French capital.

An emergency evacuation was carried out at terminals two and three after the national police received an anonymous call at around 6 p.m. local time.

The caller claimed there was a bomb in one of the airport toilets.

A police source told La Parisien: “An accused called and said he had placed a bomb in the airport toilets. The site is being evacuated.”

Special services, including dog teams, were dispatched to inspect the area.

Images seen on social media appear to show passengers at Paris-Orly airport leaving the airport.

Previously, a Transavia flight from the same airport to Montpellier had remained on the tarmac for hours on Wednesday evening before it was finally cancelled – also because of a bomb threat, which turned out to be a hoax.
