Paddington chaos LIVE: London station paralyzed by ‘intruders’ | UK | News

Following a “trespassing incident”, services from Paddington station in west London were cancelled on Sunday.

This comes just as the Notting Hill Carnival begins today, attracting hundreds of thousands of revelers to West London.

Here’s what we know so far:

– National Rail and Transport for London (TfL) have reported a ‘trespassing incident’, but no further details have been released and the cause is not yet clear.

– Services between London Paddington and Heathrow Airport may be delayed by up to 30 minutes or cancelled altogether.

– It was originally announced that the disruption was expected to last until 7.30pm, but it has since been extended until 8.45pm.

– Photos posted on social media by angry passengers showed huge crowds at Paddington station and people stranded on delayed trains.

– Meanwhile, Great Western Railway said services were running at “reduced speeds” between Reading and Paddington due to damage to overhead lines.

– Travellers have also reported significant delays on the Elizabeth Line. Due to a blockage in the overhead lines, there are said to be no connections between Bond Street and Reading or Heathrow Airport.

– In a later statement, National Rail said that although the trespassing incident had been resolved, problems persisted: “Due to damage to the overhead line system between London Paddington and Reading, all tracks are closed,” the statement said.

“As a result, there may be train cancellations or significant delays of up to 60 minutes between London Paddington and Heathrow Airport/Reading.”

“Significant disruption is expected until 8:45 p.m. London Paddington station is currently open for disembarkation only.

“A previous incident of trespassing at Paddington station in London caused further disruption to public services, but this has now been resolved.”
