SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Two employees of the SLO County District Attorney’s Office received statewide awards for their achievements.

Two members of the District Attorney’s Office were honored this week for their outstanding skills, professional dedication and personal sacrifices, earning the respect and recognition of their colleagues across the state.

The California District Attorneys Association this week honored Assistant District Attorney Eric Dobroth as District Attorney of the Year at the organization’s annual conference in Carlsbad. Assistant Chief Investigator JT Camp received the Investigator of the Year award. The awards were presented at the association’s annual conference in Carlsbad.

“We recognize the qualities of character and the level of dedication with which our office performs its duties,” said District Attorney Dan Dow, “but it is always nice to see our people recognized by their colleagues at this level.”

Dobroth assumed the primary leadership role of the prosecutor’s office during Dow’s absence while he was called to active duty with the California Army National Guard’s 40th Infantry Division in the Middle East. Dobroth served as acting district attorney from September 2023 until April of this year.

Camp was one of the lead investigators in the prosecution of Paul Flores for the murder of Kristin Smart.

“These awards are a testament to the dedication they have shown in their service to the community,” said County Administrator Matt Pontes. “San Luis Obispo County is fortunate to have such talent in these two exemplary public servants.”

Last year, former District Attorney Christopher Peuvrelle also received the District Attorney of the Year award for his work on the Flores case, making it the second consecutive year that San Luis Obispo County has received the District Attorney of the Year award.
