OSAN AIR BASE, South Korea — North Korea’s president recently oversaw the testing of several homegrown military drones, one of which struck a target that appeared to resemble a South Korean battle tank, the state-run Korean Central News Agency reported.

Kim Jong Un and several high-ranking government officials observed the drones taking off at a preset altitude at an unknown location on Saturday, identifying and destroying targets, KCNA reported on Monday.

North Korea must build more “suicide drones of various types” and use them in infantry and special forces, Kim said during the demonstration.

Edited images released by KCNA appear to show a drone hitting an armored vehicle that resembles the South Korean K-2 Black Panther tank.
