Arline Ann Daut, 79, died Thursday, August 8, 2024, surrounded by her family. Arline was born October 1, 1944, in East St. Louis, Illinois, to Marshall and Marie Dumstorff Moseley. She attended the Jewish Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1965, and then began her career as a registered nurse. On June 11, 1966, she married her best friend, Dr. Donald W. Daut. Arline raised four children while devoting countless hours to her church and local community. She was one of the founding members of the choir at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, where she sang each week and helped organize music and church events. She and her husband, Donald, were dedicated members of St. Stephen’s, contributing to the establishment of the church and its growing congregation over the past thirty years. She also actively served at St. Brendan’s Catholic School and parish in Mexico, Missouri, before her family moved to Northwest Arkansas. She served on numerous local auxiliary boards and was a long-time member of the NWA Junior Auxillary. In addition to her medical training, Arline possessed a strong sense of organization and business which she used to manage the business side of her husband’s thriving medical practice. She was a wonderful tennis player and enjoyed sewing and needlepointing in her spare time. She always loved playing a good game of bridge with friends and spending time with her eight grandchildren. A true matriarch, she loved family dinners and holidays and attended her grandchildren’s activities and events over the years. Arline was a vibrant, strong, loyal woman who took immense pride in her family and their accomplishments. She knew how to command a room and get things done as efficiently as possible and her home always felt warm and inviting. She and Donald instilled in all of their children and grandchildren the value and importance of education as a driving force in life, giving back to others and living the best life possible. As the great playwright William Shakespeare once wrote, “Though she be little, yet is she fierce,” and though she was little, Arline Daut loved and supported her family and friends dearly as she walked her life by their side. She made them feel that through hard work, a good education, and a loving heart, they could accomplish anything. Her legacy will live on through her children and grandchildren. She is survived by four children, Donald W. Daut Jr. (wife Jennifer), John H. Daut (wife Kristie), Amy M. Keller (husband William), Peter M. Daut (wife Mary Frances); and eight beautiful grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Marshall “Terry” Moseley (wife Ginny), sisters-in-law Barbara Balen (husband Robert), Christine Niedzwiecki (John Randall), and Cheryl Daut. Preceding her in death are her parents, Marshall and Marie Dumstorff Moseley, her husband Dr. Donald W. Daut, her brother John Moseley (Angie), her sister Mary Lou Zurbriggen and her brothers-in-law Dr. Dennis Daut and Gerald Niedzwiecki. The family will receive guests from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 13, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. The funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a Resurrection Mass. Interment will follow in St. Stephen’s Columbarium, and all are invited to join the family for a luncheon at the Family Life Center. Father Michael Sinkler will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to the Nelson-Berna Funeral Home and Crematory, 100 S. 28th St., Rogers, Arkansas 72758. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Northwest Arkansas at spsfnwa.org. To leave online condolences, please visit www.bernafuneralhomes.com.
