Rangers reportedly noticed an abandoned rental car at the Sand Dune Arch trailhead around 9:45 p.m. on August 23. Rangers believe the car entered the park around 8:50 a.m. on August 16.

Userovici was last seen by his family on Aug. 13, NPS said.

Userovici is a white man with short gray hair, approximately 5’6″ tall and of slim build. He wears glasses and possibly size 8.5 sneakers. He may also have a small, red Nikon camera with him, NPS said.

Rangers began a ground search on August 24. The search has now reportedly expanded to a multi-agency effort involving teams from the National Park Service, Grand County Search and Rescue and the Moab Interagency Fire Center, with helicopter support from the Bureau of Land Management.

Anyone with pertinent information or who has been in the area and seen a person matching the description is asked to contact the National Park Service Tip Line by phone at 888-653-0009, submit a tip online at go.nps.gov/SubmitATip, or send an email.
