Earth Defense Force 6: Best Wing Diver Weapons

Earth Defense Force 6: Best Wing Diver Weapons

Key findings

  • Wing Divers in EDF6 are powerful glass cannons that deal high damage but have little health.
  • Weapon options like Valiant Saber and Bolt Shooter offer high damage and strategic advantages.
  • Simple but effective weapons such as the guided grenade and the spark whip are easy to use in difficult situations.

The Wing Diver in Earth Defense Force 6 is the Valkyrie of the battlefield. They are the only class that can fly (without using a vehicle, of course) and the vast majority of their weapons are energy-based rather than standard ammo. Because of this, Wing Divers must constantly keep an eye on several things to stay alive, such as their position, energy level, ammo amount, health, and more.

The Xbox Game Pass library is full of acclaimed first-person shooter titles. Here’s a roundup of the best FPS games available.

Although they have one of the highest damage values in Earth Defense Force 6they are also the weakest character in terms of overall armor. So with that in mind, let’s go through some of the best weapon options for this class to help new players in the EDF Franchise with EDF6 have some recommendations that you should keep in mind when mastering this highly technical character class.

10 Brave Sabre

Independent operating equipment

Earth Defense Force 6 - Valiant Saber

The Valiant Saber is possibly one of the most powerful single target weapons in EDF6and yet somehow it is just a simple melee weapon. For the class that is known for EDF’sbiggest glass cannon. It may seem silly to use a weapon that requires the player to be so incredibly close to use it, but the Valiant Saber is worth it.

Even if a Wing Diver can masterfully avoid almost any danger, at higher levels (on the higher difficulties like Hardest and Inferno) it’s almost impossible to completely avoid enemies that get too close to you. In these situations, the Valiant Saber is literally a lifesaver, as the damage it deals per hit is usually enough to take out most mobs in a single hit, if not two.

9 Blinkball FZ

Independent operating equipment

Earth Defense Force 6 – Blinkball Grenade

Next up is another loadout option, but it’s a lot less “bombastic” than most. The Wing Diver is known for having very visually appealing weaponry, from all sorts of laser weapons to gigantic, multi-colored explosions. In comparison, the Blinkball is basically just a grenade, but that’s exactly what makes it so worthwhile.

One of the biggest downsides to playing Wingdiver is that most weapons, while incredibly powerful, are pretty complicated and usually have as many downsides as upsides. So the Blinkball is just a simple grenade to throw and explode, and is pretty useful when a Wing Diver just needs to deal high damage in a specific spot without considering their energy level, recharge time, lock-on time, or anything like that.

8 Bolt gun ZF

Weapon (long range)

Earth Defense Force 6 – Bolt Gun

This next opinion may be controversial, but the Bolt Shooter is probably our favorite long-range Wing Diver option in Earth Defense Force 6. While the amount of energy it requires for each reload is pretty absurd, this weapon’s range, simplicity, and DPS easily make up for any drawbacks.

7 open-world games that are much bigger than they first seem

Open world map design has become standard in gaming. However, some games are much larger than they appear at first glance.

Sometimes simplicity is best. The Bolt Gunner fires energy bolts very precisely at any target they’re aimed at. It can take out multiple mobs or a few elites on Inferno difficulty with a single charge (making it ideal for farming missions). Just make sure to avoid enemies getting too close when reloading this weapon, as it will most likely drain the Wing Diver’s energy core completely with each reload (and even a bit more when it’s refilled).

7 Reflectron five-way laser ZD

Weapon (medium range)

Earth Defense Force 6 – Reflectron Rifle

While most of the other weapon options here are here because of their simplicity, the Reflectron Five-Way Laser is here because it isn’t simple. In fact, when using this weapon, it can be quite difficult to see what is even going on since all of the laser lights are on the screen at once.

However, when it comes to clearing mobs in a small area with an area effect, this is by far one of the best options. When fired, the Reflectron Five-Way Laser fires five lasers that damage everything they touch and reflect off all surfaces. As the energy in the weapon tank decreases, the lasers do less damage and become smaller, but by that point, most of the weaker mobs near that fired weapon are already long dead.

6 Guided grenade 12

Independent operating equipment

Earth Defense Force 6 – Wing Diver guided grenade

The Guided Grenade is another simple option for players who like things a little less intense, and it’s one of their best options. When thrown, the Guided Grenade does exactly what its name suggests, as the thrown grenade splits into 5+ small grenades that are automatically guided to nearby enemies. The damage this equipment deals is relatively lackluster compared to many of the other options here, but the charge time and ease of use makes up for the lack of damage.

Essentially, Wing Divers tend to use this equipment when they are faced with numerous weak but agile enemies that become dangerous once they get close. Using this equipment, the Wing Diver can take out these enemies without having to fully focus on them or expend more energy than necessary.

5 Gleiphnir Alpha

Independent operational equipment (superweapon)

Earth Defense Force 6 – Glephnir Grenade

Personally, the Gleiphnir is our favorite IOE (aka grenade) in the game for the Wing Diver, and the reason for that is simple: it’s so much fun to use. Essentially, players press the equip button and their Wing Diver throws that equipment. After flying forward a short distance, the Gleiphnir hovers in the air and then begins firing numerous energy projectiles into the air.

These projectiles will then automatically target all enemies within range of the Gleiphnir, dealing fairly low damage each time they hit. It’s by far one of the best ways to throw them into a mob of enemies, especially if the player wants to distract them, and usually the Gleiphnir will actually take out a good portion of that mob all by itself before running out of energy. The only real downside to this gear is the long recharge time/requirement, but that’s understandable considering how powerful it is overall.

4 Dragoon Lance ZM

Weapon (close range)

Earth Defense Force 6 – Dragoon Lance Weapon

The lance weapons are quite iconic for the Wing Diver in the Earth Defense Force games, and the Dragoon Lance is one of the most powerful versions of it. These weapons have quite high energy consumption, take quite a long time to charge and have a very short range, but their damage is astronomical.

9 open-world games with the best progression systems

Most video games have some sort of progression system, but these open-world titles completely transcend the concept.

Think of it like a real magic lance, an incredibly powerful piercing weapon that can take out an enemy with one or two stabs. While other lances like the Phalanx Lances don’t really seem worth the damage they deal, the Dragoon Lance definitely is.

3 Spark Whip ZY

Weapon (close range)

Earth Defense Force 6 - Sparkwhip

The Spark Whip ZY is basically the perfect example of an “old reliable” weapon choice for the Wing Diver. It has its own energy tank, the cost to refill the tank is pretty low, the range is decent, and the damage is pretty good. It may be a bit boring compared to some of the most bombastic weapon options available to the Wing Diver, but who cares if it does its job well?

Players can obtain lower-level variations of the Sparkwhip fairly early on, allowing them to get some practice with the weapon and the ideal time to use it before acquiring the higher-level (and much more powerful) variations on Inferno difficulty.

2 Lightning Arc ZA

Weapon (medium range)

Earth Defense Force 6 – Lightning-Fast Bow

The Lightning Bow is another weapon that players can find versions of very early on EDF6 game time, which is great since it’s one of the best AoE tools the Wing Diver has access to. This is by far one of the best choices you can make for your Wing Diver since it costs little energy and so quickly takes out mobs of easy enemies.

However, keep in mind that this is one of those Wing Diver weapons that will automatically fire until the charge is empty once the player releases it. And when it comes to elite enemies, this is absolutely not something that would be recommended. But for the purpose it was designed for, the Lightning Bow does its job incredibly well.

1 Plasma Cannon F

Weapon (long range)

Earth Defense Force 6 – Plasma Burst Cannon

Probably one of the most controversial decisions we make here, but one of our personal favorites. EDF6there are many situations where the actual terrain on the map simply gets in the way. Enemies often intentionally (or even unintentionally) hide behind buildings, the large horde of enemies a player wants to take out is completely hidden by buildings, or the enemies themselves benefit more from climbing the buildings than the players.

In such cases, it’s great to have a weapon that not only does decent damage, but also destroys any surrounding buildings that are hit by the blast. In general, the plasma cannons aren’t really worth the energy expenditure given the damage and aiming difficulty, but the Plasma Cannon F is the exception to the rule (at least in our opinion).
