Wizards Beyond Waverly Place FIRST LOOK takes fans back to “where it all began” with Selena Gomez and David Henrie. Watch HERE

The Russo family is ready to introduce themselves to a new generation and prepares for their return to the screen after more than 12 years.

On Friday, August 9, Disney unveiled first footage from the highly anticipated reboot of Wizards of Waverly Place, titled Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. In a two-minute video from the production, stars of the original series, Selena Gomez and David Henrie, give audiences a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on on the set of the sequel series.

Also appearing in the clip, which can be viewed below, are newcomers Janice LeAnn Brown (as Billie), Alkaio Thiele (as Roman Russo), Max Matenko (as Milo Russo), Taylor Cora (as Winter) and Mimi Gianopulos (as Giada Russo).

The series follows adult Justin Russo (Henrie), who has decided to live a normal, mortal life with his family. However, his life is turned upside down when his sister Alex brings Billie to him for help. Justin immediately realizes that he must brush up on his magical skills in order to mentor the young wizard in training. How he juggles his everyday duties while securing the future of the wizarding world is the plot of the upcoming Disney offering.

“This is where it all started. We’re home,” says Gomez, who played Alex in the original series, in the first look clip while hugging Henrie. So far, the Calm Down singer is only set to appear in the pilot episode of her revived Disney show. “We wanted to recreate the magic for a newer generation,” adds the actor.

Elsewhere in the pilot, the new characters are at the mercy of Billie, who is clearly having a little too much fun with her magic.

And when David DeLuise, who played Jerry Russo, the patriarch of the Russo family on Wizards of Waverly Place, makes a cameo in the clip for Gomez’s original theme song for the series, “Everything Is Not What It Seems,” viewers are transported back to when the show was a regular on the kids’ channel.
