Amsterdam’s Alphadoc closes shop – Silicon Canals

Amsterdam-based Alphadoc, a platform that helps product and development teams quickly create documentation, recently announced that it will cease operations on August 16, 2024.

The announcement came at a time when the Dutch company was struggling to generate sufficient revenue to sustain its operations.

“Despite receiving a lot of praise from our users, we were not able to generate enough revenue from our services to sustain the business,” the company said in a LinkedIn post.

Alphadoc is one of the few companies representing the Dutch ecosystem at Slush 2022 and 2023 from November 30 to December 1, 2023 at the Helsinki Expo and Convention Center.

The Dutch startup also participated in the World Summit AI 2023 (WSAI 2023) at the Taets Art and Event Park in Zaandam last year.

In 2022, the Dutch company raised an undisclosed amount in a pre-seed round backed by a large group of technology entrepreneurs and investors, including founders of Dimebox, Founda Health, Spryng, Reveall, and Growth Tribe; former executive profiles from Adyen, Hubs, Recruitee, and WeTransfer; as well as private tickets from leading European VC funds.

What does Alphadoc offer?

Founded in late 2021 by Job Rietbergen and Daan Stolk, Alphadoc claims to help API-first companies build state-of-the-art documentation.

The platform helps product and development teams quickly create documentation.

It enables teams to explain their product with a story by automatically generating documentation and tutorials that explain how to use their API, and by keeping that documentation up to date as their API changes.
