Sometimes hunger is just one house away. Unfortunately, many of our neighbors cannot afford even the most basic necessities each month. That is the reality right now – and it might be closer than you think.

According to a recent report, nearly a third of working families in Sarasota live paycheck to paycheck. These neighbors include hardworking and essential members of the community – nurses, teachers, security guards and truck drivers – as well as children, the elderly and veterans.

The skyrocketing costs of housing and child care have contributed to the hunger crisis. Community members are forced to make impossible choices: rent or car repairs? Electric bills or medicine? Medical care or food?

All Faiths Food Bank is the only food bank and largest hunger relief organization in Sarasota and DeSoto counties, providing millions of meals each year through programs and partnerships with hundreds of charities throughout the community. AFFB also operates programs that help families and individuals achieve long-term food security, enjoy better health, and achieve self-sufficiency.

Please donate. The need is right next door.

  • The Fall Harvest campaign, now running through September 30, is raising funds to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to hungry neighbors.

  • In addition to providing food, All Faiths also helps families become more self-sufficient through services such as SNAP benefits and tax assistance, financial literacy, and referrals to other providers.

  • Consider participating in our special events this year: Fall Harvest Dinner (Oct. 5), our biggest community event, Bowls of Hope (Nov. 10), and Friends FULL of Giving (Nov. 15).

  • September is Hunger Action Month. We invite you to take a stand against hunger by volunteering, fundraising and donating to help our neighbors!
