Rev ‘Em Up for Kids

The 13th annual Pasta Too Rev ‘Em Up for Kids mega car cruise event is scheduled for September 1 at South Park’s paved VIP and ice skating rink off Corrigan Drive in Bethel Park.

In case of bad weather, the flexible day is September 2nd, Labor Day.

The event will be held from 12:00pm to 7:00pm and is open to all vehicles of special interest. The cost for display vehicles is $5. No vehicles will be admitted before 11:00am.

There will be music, food and merchandise vendors, raffles, show t-shirts, a family fun and children’s area, and an emergency vehicle display.

Job fair planned for September 14

A fall job fair will be held in Bethel Park on September 14th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event, held at the Bethel Park Community Center, 5151 Park Ave., will feature a variety of companies seeking full-time, part-time and seasonal workers.

Employers can register for a free spot by registering at www.bethelpark.net/jobfair and clicking the yellow “Register Now” button. Spots are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Job seekers should bring their resume and be prepared to potentially be called for an interview immediately. There are also a variety of free job search resources available, including resume preparation assistance, setting up a LinkedIn profile, free computer training, interview tips and techniques, and educational information.

The job fair is sponsored by the Bethel Park community in partnership with the Bethel Park Chamber of Commerce. Questions can be directed to [email protected].

Art Guild meets

The Bethel Park Art Guild meets on September 5th at 12:30pm.

The meeting at the Bethel Park Community Center, 5151 Park Ave., will begin with snacks and a light lunch provided by members. A business meeting will be held at 1 p.m., followed by guest speaker Sue Levy.

She has been painting since the age of five and holds a degree in commercial art and fashion illustration from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. She has continued to study with many art teachers locally, nationally and internationally and teaches watercolor painting to adult beginners and advanced students.

Guests are welcome to attend and learn more about the Guild, which offers opportunities to hang paintings in exhibitions and local venues, network with local artists, and meet guest artists, speakers and demonstrators at meetings.

Environmental lecture series

Thanks to a gift from the N. David & Janet M. Campbell Family Foundation, the Bethel Park Historical Society will again partner with the Allegheny Land Trust for an environmental lecture series in 2024–25.

Lectures will be held at the Schoolhouse Arts and History Center, 2600 South Park Road, beginning Sept. 9 with “Animal Athletes,” 5:00-6:00 p.m., and “All About Hummingbirds,” 6:30-7:30 p.m. Registration is required.

Community Day is just around the corner

Bethel Park Community Day takes place on September 7th.

Club of braggarts

South Hills Church of the Nazarene, 5601 Library Road, Bethel Park, presents the next Acting Up Club meeting Wednesdays through December 11 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

The drama and music club for children in grades two through six teaches music, movement and acting skills in preparation for the musical β€œThe Christmas County Spelling Bee.”

The registration fee is $25. Register by September 11 at www.shcn.org/auc.

South Arts Shows

South Arts Pittsburgh hosts two art exhibitions at the Schoolhouse Art & History Center, 2600 South Park Road.

The first show will be October 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the Bethel Park Historical Society’s open house (noon to 3 p.m.), which includes tours of the schoolhouse and coincides with the Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Company’s open house across the street. Take a tour of the building and view a variety of original artwork and photography by local artists.

On November 9 and 10, South Arts Pittsburgh will host a two-day artist market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., also at the Schoolhouse Arts & History Center. The market will feature local vendors displaying their work on the first and second floors, and artwork by South Arts members will be for sale in one of the historic schoolhouse’s classrooms.

Jewelry, cards and mounts are also available. Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted.

At both events, South Arts will host a basket raffle for a chance to win artwork. Proceeds will be donated to the Bethel Park Historical Society for further improvements to the school building.

Autumn Crafts Exhibition

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church will host its second annual Fall Arts and Crafts and Trade Show on September 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the South Park Economics Building, 2050 Buffalo Drive.

There will be more than 40 vendors, raffles, a DJ and food trucks from Hibachi Lou, Frost Fairy, Jo & Di Cravings and Ritter’s Bubble Brew. Proceeds benefit the church.

Farmers market continues

The Bethel Park Farmers’ Market is held Tuesdays through September 25th from 3-7 p.m. in the South Park parking lot along Corrigan Drive. Enjoy musical guests, special educational speakers, storytimes with friends from the Bethel Park Public Library, and more.

Bible study for women

South Hills Church of the Nazarene, 5601 Library Road, Bethel Park, offers a Bible study evening for women every first and third Friday of the month at 7 p.m. starting October 4th.

The group will study Max Lucado’s life lessons from 1, 2, 3 John and Jude. All women are welcome. There is no child care.
