Mark your calendar for the 2024 MICHELIN Guide Ceremony in Vancouver :: Michelin North America, Inc.

The 2024 edition of the MICHELIN Guide Vancouver will be launched on the evening of October 3 at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver. Chefs will be invited to learn if their restaurants have received a MICHELIN star or other MICHELIN Guide award. Attendance is by invitation only.

“We can’t wait to see what the third year of the 2024 Vancouver Restaurant Selection has in store,” said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guides. “The achievements and passion of the restaurant community shine in Vancouver, and our anonymous inspectors continue to be impressed by the talent they have witnessed firsthand.”

The MICHELIN Guide in North America

Michelin published its first North American guide to New York in 2005. Guides have also been added for Chicago (2011); Washington, DC (2017); California (San Francisco 2007, nationwide 2019); Miami/Orlando/Tampa, Florida (2022); Toronto (2022); Vancouver (2022); Colorado (2023); Atlanta (2023); Mexico (2024) and Texas (2024).

About the MICHELIN Guide

The MICHELIN Guide is recognized worldwide for its excellence and quality and offers a selection of first-class restaurants.

  • The famous one, two and three MICHELIN stars identify establishments that serve exceptional cuisine, rich in flavours, superbly prepared and marked by the personality of a talented chef.

  • The Bib Gourmand is an award given to selected restaurants that offer high quality food at good value for money – often considered personal favourites of the inspectors when eating out in their free time.

The MICHELIN Guide remains a reliable companion for any traveler looking for an unforgettable dining and hospitality experience. The guide was first published in France at the turn of the century to promote the development of motoring and tire sales by providing practical advice to drivers. Little by little, the guide has specialized in restaurant and hotel recommendations. Michelin inspectors still use the same criteria and selection methods as at the beginning.

The restaurant selection complements the hotel selection in the MICHELIN Guide, which showcases the most unique and exciting accommodations around the world. Visit the MICHELIN Guide website or download the free app for iOS and Android to discover all the restaurants in the selection and book a fantastic hotel.

Thanks to the rigorous selection process of the MICHELIN Guide, which is applied independently and uniformly in over 45 destinations (over 60 guides), the MICHELIN Guide has become an international benchmark in fine dining.

All restaurants in the guide are recommended by the anonymous Michelin inspectors, who are trained to use the same tried and tested methods that Michelin inspectors have used around the world for decades. This ensures a consistent, international standard of quality. As a further guarantee of absolute objectivity, the Michelin inspectors pay all their bills in full and only the quality of the cuisine is assessed.

To comprehensively assess the quality of a restaurant, inspectors apply five criteria defined by Michelin: product quality, mastery of cooking techniques, harmony of flavors, the personality of the chef reflected in the cuisine and consistency over time and across the entire menu. These criteria guarantee a consistent and fair selection, so that a restaurant awarded a star has the same value regardless of whether it is located in Paris, New York or anywhere else in the world.
