“Shoot me with a gun, but don’t use HYDRAA on me”

“Shoot me with a gun, but don’t use HYDRAA on me”

Every political discussion in Telangana revolves around HYDRAA, a team formed by Revanth Reddy to fight illegal use of natural water bodies in Hyderabad. HYDRAA rose to prominence by destroying Nagarjuna’s N Convention, which has been a threat to the government for nearly a decade as it is affecting the Tammidikunta Lake.

Incidentally, after the demolition of N Convention in Hitech City, there is a furore on social media whether HYDRAA has the guts to demolish Fatima Owaisi Women’s College in Bandlaguda. This college is located in Bandlaguda and is run by Akbaruddin Owaisi of MIM. There are allegations that this college was built by encroaching on the nearby lake, which is against HYDRAA’s regulations.

Responding to speculations that HYDRAA might soon become active at Fatima Owaisi College, Akbaruddin appeared upset and pleaded with Revanth not to use HYDRAA against the institution.

“If you want to demonstrate your power, then shoot at me with guns and bullets. But please do not destroy my educational institution. I have constructed 12 buildings here with the intention of providing education to the economically weaker sections. I am used to gunfire and bullet wounds, but I cannot bear you destroying my college,” Owaisi said.

While HYDRAA is primarily targeting farms and recreational facilities, the agency has not yet targeted educational and social institutions. So it remains to be seen how the agency will respond to Owaisi’s appeal.
