The average price of a gallon of gasoline in Alabama fell 9.3 cents over the past week, averaging $2.94 per gallon on Monday, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 3,348 Alabama gas stations.

That’s 16.3 cents per gallon less than the same period last month and 45.6 cents per gallon less than the same period last year.

Nationwide, prices fell 6.2 cents per gallon to an average of $3.30 on Monday. The national average price for diesel fell 3.2 cents last week to $3.67 per gallon – a multi-year low.

“It seems fitting that the national average has fallen for four weeks in a row to its lowest level since February in the lead-up to Labor Day, giving Americans one last chance to hit the road without gas prices being a factor,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “GasBuddy is currently tracking eight states where average gas prices are already below the $3 per gallon mark, and nearly 20% of gas stations nationwide are selling gas for $2.99 or less. These numbers will look better week by week as we move into fall.”

According to GasBuddy price reports:

  • The cheapest gas station in Alabama cost $2.66 per gallon on Sunday
  • The most expensive gas station in Alabama cost $3.49 per gallon on Sunday

In the Tuscaloosa area, you can get gas for as little as $2.59 a gallon. Here’s where.
