Park fire almost contained, weekend storms bring 20 centimetres of rain to fire area

The Park Fire is 429,603 acres in size and 82% contained. Over the weekend, storms brought nearly an inch of rain to the fire.

According to Cal Fire’s status report:

The Park Fire is being fought under the Unified Command of CAL FIRE and the Lassen National Forest.

Higher temperatures prevailed throughout the day. There was no fire activity during the entire incident. Crews continue to clean up and search for fire-weakened or dead trees that need to be removed.

Due to recent rainfall, there have been delays in repairing the fire suppression system during this operating period. A safety risk remains in the fire area as heavy equipment is being used to repair the fire suppression system in close proximity to personnel.

  • Road closure of Tehama County Road 202 (Plum Creek Road) from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. near the Ishi Conservation Camp to Ponderosa Way.

Damage inspectors were able to examine areas that were previously inaccessible. The damage inspection is now complete and the number of buildings destroyed is final.
