On Thursday, August 29, at 3 p.m., the General Administration and Planning (GGP) Committee will hold a special meeting in the Council Chambers to discuss possible new regulations for short-term rentals (STRs) in Lexington.

The GGP committee has not yet released its meeting packet, so we do not know what exactly will be discussed. According to an email from Engage Lexington When announcing the meeting, the committee will discuss the following topics:

  • Adding distance requirements for STRs, meaning a new STR unit cannot be deployed within a certain radius of an existing STR

  • A formula to determine whether there are too many STRs in a neighborhood

If changes are made to the current STR regulations, the Planning Commission would be tasked with reviewing the new regulations, revising them if necessary, and then approving or rejecting them.

You can read our coverage of previous STR rulings and discussions here.

The special meeting of the General Government and the Planning Committee will take place on Thursday, August 29th at 3 p.m. in the Council Chamber. You can attend in person or Watch live on LexTV.
