The search for a Frenchman reported missing in Arches National Park in Utah continued on Monday.

Rangers learned of an abandoned rental vehicle at the Sand Dune Arch trailhead around 9:45 p.m. Friday. They believe the vehicle entered the park around 8:50 a.m. on August 16.

Francis Userovici, 76, was last seen by his family on Aug. 13. He was described as about 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a slim build and short gray hair. He wears glasses, may be wearing size 12 sneakers and may be carrying a small red Nikon camera, a park news release said.

Rangers began a ground search on August 24. By Sunday, the search had expanded to a multi-agency effort involving teams from the National Park Service, Grand County Search and Rescue and the Moab Interagency Fire Center, with helicopter support from the Bureau of Land Management.

Anyone with relevant information or who has been in the area and seen a person matching the description is asked to call the National Park Service tip line at 888-653-0009 or submit a tip online at go.nps.gov/SubmitATipor by email (email protected).
