We haven’t seen this Sonos speaker on offer very often. If you want to add some ground-shaking bass to your Sonos setup, there’s still nothing better than a separate, standalone subwoofer. Despite its compact size, the Sonos Sub Mini features two 6-inch drivers that face inward toward each other in a sealed enclosure to prevent unwanted vibration. Each driver is powered by its own Class-D digital amplifier, delivering more than enough sound pressure for even a large room. The Sonos Era 100 is a direct successor to the Sonos One. The Era 100 also supports Dolby Atmos when paired with an Arc or Beam soundbar. It has a built-in microphone and can be controlled by voice. It can also be used as a smart speaker for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

The Arc is Sonos’ flagship product. We named it the best soundbar of 2024. This is a premium soundbar and it shows. This 45-inch soundbar houses eleven precisely engineered internal speakers, including two dedicated height channels. It’s Dolby Atmos-capable and has enough power that you can probably get by without a subwoofer. However, the Sonos Arc can be paired wirelessly with other Sonos speakers and subwoofers for even better sound dispersion. The Arc also has a built-in microphone for voice control, making it compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant.

If your TV is too small for the Arc’s 45-inch footprint, consider the Sonos Beam instead. The Beam is a smaller 26-inch soundbar that still offers great sound quality thanks to four elliptical midrange drivers, a central tweeter, and three passive bass radiators. It’s Dolby Atmos-capable and has a microphone for voice control.

Thanks to its small 22-inch length, the Sonos Ray soundbar fits virtually anywhere and fits any size TV. Despite its compact size, it delivers room-filling sound with its two tweeters and two woofers. The Sonos Ray has built-in Wi-Fi, so it can also be used as a home speaker via the Sonos app, Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, and more. Note that the Sonos Ray does not have built-in smart functionality.

The Move is Sonos’ biggest and best portable speaker. Think of it as a portable Era 100. This is a standalone speaker with a self-contained battery that can be carried from room to room. It’s also made from more durable materials and is IP56 weather-resistant. A small docking station is also included. The Move 2 delivers great sound despite its small footprint. Like the Era 100, the Move 2 has two tweeters, three Class D digital amplifiers, and a midrange driver. It also has a built-in microphone for voice control, making it compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant.
Why is Sonos so popular?
Sound quality vs. size
Although Sonos products are compact and don’t take up much space in your home, they offer surprisingly loud and distortion-free sound. They are definitely more expensive than budget options, but the sound quality is more comparable to audio products that cost hundreds more or take up much more space.
Easy setup
Sonos devices are usually just plug and play. All you need to do is plug in a power cable (if that’s even necessary) and connect it to your TV (if that’s even necessary), download the Sonos app, and you’re done. Generally, no receiver is required. The soundbars can plug directly into your TV, and the speakers work wirelessly. With a 5.1-channel home theater setup, you don’t have to deal with a tangled mess of cables. Individual Sonos speakers can be paired with your soundbar and used as rear satellites. The subwoofer is also wireless, so it can be placed virtually anywhere in your room.
Communication between devices
Virtually all Sonos speakers can talk to each other. This means you can pair different Sonos speakers in different rooms to achieve multi-room functionality.
