Another Red Lobster restaurant in San Diego County is about to close permanently

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Another Red Lobster restaurant in San Diego County is closing as the company continues its Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings from earlier this year.

Citing a recently filed court order, CNN reported Monday that the company will reject leases for another 23 Red Lobster restaurants in the U.S. by August 31.

The restaurant near the Grossmont Center shopping center (8703 Murray Dr.) in La Mesa was on the list, CNN reported.

CNN reported, citing the filing: “The new list of restaurant leases to be closed ‘are likely to continue to result in losses’ and the company ‘believes that these are not necessary for future business operations and therefore may be rejected.'”

The impending closure of the La Mesa restaurant comes after Red Lobster filed for bankruptcy in May, resulting in the closure of the location at 8330 Mira Mesa Blvd. in Mira Mesa.

When searching for zip codes for the San Diego area on Red Lobster’s website, the company’s map shows that the location at 3780 Sports Arena Blvd. in the Midway District is “temporarily closed.” The La Mesa and Mira Mesa restaurants are no longer listed on the map.

However, according to the map, the Red Lobster location in Chula Vista (598 H St.) remains open.
