Popular restaurant ‘Chubby Cattle’ opens in Woodfield Mall in Illinois – NBC Chicago

As shopping center development in Chicago’s suburbs continues to boom, a new, “unique” restaurant is opening at Woodfield Mall.

Chubby Cattle, described as a “premium all-you-can-eat wagyu experience,” is scheduled to open in Schaumburg in 2025, according to a press release. It will be the Wagyu barbecue restaurant’s first location outside of Chicago’s Chinatown, the press release said.

“We know our customers expect more than a wide selection of top brands,” said Chris Speca, general manager of Woodfield Mall, in the press release. “They want curated experiences. Bringing one of the most talked-about concepts in the food and beverage industry to Woodfield Mall is a win for the mall, the northwest suburbs and our visitors from across the region.”

At the heart of the Chubby Cattle concept is a three-tiered, all-you-can-eat menu that includes American and Australian full-blood Wagyu, as well as Japanese A5 Wagyu and a wide selection of sushi, shabu shabu, vegetables and fruits, the press release said.

The restaurant’s upcoming Woodfield location joins Chubby Cattle’s “rapid nationwide expansion,” with other Chubby Cattle locations in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Denver.

The restaurant, scheduled to open next year, will be located in the lower dining pavilion wing near Entrance 5, across from Asha SalonSpa, the press release said.

The restaurant comes as several new stores are set to open at the suburban mall, including men’s clothing store Ticknors Men’s Clothier, Vancouver-based lifestyle and fashion brand Aritizia and jewelry brand The Inspiration Co. In 2023, Chicago-based Radio Flyer opened its first-ever retail store at the Schaumburg Mall.

Other Chicago-area shopping centers are adding new shops and restaurants, including Old Orchard in Skokie, Golf Mill in Niles and Gurnee Mills in Gurnee.
